Edwyn James Hickey is an Irish designer originally from Limerick and currently based in Ashford, County Wicklow. He is a founding partner of Magnaparte Ltd (est. 2016). He graduated with a Bachelor of Honours in Architecture from the Dublin School of Architecture (TU Dublin) and spent a year at MIT during his studies. In 2013, he received the AAI Maurice Craig Award for his thesis.
In 2020, Edwyn was selected to represent Ireland at Maison&Objet. He is a 2024 Future Makers Award Winner (Design & Crafts Council Ireland), IDI 2024 shortlisted, and a finalist for the 194th RHA Annual Exhibition.
In 2025, he exhibited at Collect in London—one of the leading international fairs for contemporary craft and design—followed by a presentation at Art Evolve during the RDS Fair in Dublin, where his work was featured among Ireland’s top galleries and artists. In May, he was invited to represent Ireland and exhibit at the Irish Banquet during Révélations at the Grand Palais in Paris, a prestigious biennale dedicated to the finest in contemporary craftsmanship. It was here that the artistry of his work garnered international recognition, affirming its place within a global conversation around material, form, and sustainability.
As of September 2025, Edwyn is represented exclusively by the Róisín Lafferty Gallery. In parallel with his design practice, he leads architectural projects with Valentia Slate (2025). He is currently completing RIAI Part 3 and establishing his own architectural practice, and in 2026 is leading the design of Ireland’s first purpose-designed ISKCON temple.
